New York City is not one place. It is fifty neighbourhoods, each with a distinct character, history, demographic, and feel — many of which bear no resemblance to the others. Understanding the neighbourhoods transforms the experience of the city entirely: it means knowing why the West Village feels the way it does, why SoHo looks the way it does, and why Flushing is what it is. This module gives you the mental map and the street-level knowledge to move through the city's neighbourhoods with genuine understanding.
